High security is a basic requirement for NSB Group's operations. Our activities should not cause harm to people, the environment or property.

NSB Group works systematically and purposefully to maintain and improve safety. We do this by building on:

  • Management's responsibilities and priorities: Management is responsible for ensuring that employees at all levels prioritize security in the performance of the work. If in doubt, put safety first.
  • Good cooperation: Good cooperation is necessary to maintain a high level of security.
  • Culture of openness and trust: All employees must report any hazardous conditions, near misses, violations of provisions and losses to safety management. No one should be punished for reporting errors and challenges.
  • Expertise and Resources: Managers and employees should have sufficient expertise in safety. They should be trained and have the resources so that they can take responsibility.
  • Risk Management: Reporting of incidents, investigations, inspections, route surveys, risk analysis and measurement of results provide a basis for safety and makes it possible to implement measures for the correction and improvement of safety.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implications for safety will be considered by competent staff for all changes in technology, operations and organization. If safety is affected, then risk analysis should be performed to ensure that the measures to maintain or enhance security are identified.
  • Scorecard: Reviews and evaluations of reports, investigations and analyzes provide a basis for setting realistic and specific goals for improving safety.

Work environment

A safe work environment is a prerequisite for motivated employees, and for the NSB Group as a whole to achieve its goals.

Efforts to improve work environment should be preventative, and we should consider the consequences for the working environment in all our work.

  • Problems of work environment shall as far as possible be solved where they occur and always in collaboration with the staff and the established organization.
  • Working Committees (AMU) and the central working environment committee (SAMU) should monitor the work and deal with fundamental issues relating to their activities.
  • Efforts should be based on facts and use governance indicators for work absence, work injuries and accidents, work-related health problems and employee satisfaction.
  • Occupational Health will be an important tool in this work.
